What these two guys did, didn't exactly win the war in Europe, but the level of fucks was certainly below the zero line.
Sgt. Peter King and Pvt. Leslie Cuthbertson were both assigned to the UK Dental Corps during WW2. After attempting numerous times to transfer into an infantry unit, and knowing that they could be doing more for the war effort, they decided to take matters into their own hands.
In April of 1942, both men went AWOL, took some weapons and grenades from their camp, stole a motorboat and sailed across the English Channel and into France; pretty much a 2 man D-Day landing.
They managed to reach the coast and began conducting their own guerrilla war against the Germans for 3 days; including taking out railways and other activities. On the third day, they stole a French motorboat and began crossing the Channel. Unfortunately, they ran out of fuel and were stranded in open water for 12 days until they were rescued by the British Navy.
Upon return, they were courtmartialed, lost rank and were transferred to infantry units (which was pretty much what they wanted in the first place). King, evetually became a Commando and landed, again, in France during D-Day, 1944. He fought throughout the ETO, earned several medals for bravery and in 1951, saw more action in Korea.
