This very short and rare clip was filmed during the Battle of Tarawa. The figures in the foreground are US Marines engaging a squad of Japanese soldiers running from right to left across the Marines' field of fire. It is the only instance through out the Pacific campaign where American forces and the enemy are captured on the same frame during a firefight.
